JREA has built a powerful track record of success through a range of economic cycles. Founded in 2008, at the height of the economic downturn, JREA has developed an astute and deep understanding of value-add real-estate investments.

Our founder, Sholom Jacobs, expanded his existing real-estate portfolio and built JREA with that keen insight — recognizing the downturn for the upturn it would soon generate.

Today, JREA continues to deliver on that promise. Using a strategic, creative approach, our team pursues real-estate opportunities we predict will yield the highest IRR. We focus on the end game — investing in distressed, undervalued, and poorly-managed real-estate portfolios to surface their overlooked value and ensure appreciation over the term of the investment.

Sholom Jacobs

President & Founder

Sholom has over 19 years of expertise across real estate financing, investments, and management. He currently holds a comprehensive real estate portfolio of over one million square feet of office, retail, residential and hotel properties. In 2015, alongside Horizon Kinetics, Sholom co-founded HKJ Real Estate Fund, LP — originating short-term mortgage loans, commercial financing, and direct real-estate investments. Sholom is involved with many philanthropic causes and currently serves as President of NCFJE, a multifaceted charity that protects, feeds and educates thousands throughout the New York metro area.

Jordan Kaplowitz

Jordan Kaplowitz

Chief Financial Officer

Jordan oversees the finances and acquisitions at JREA. Since his arrival in 2014, assets under management have grown tremendously. Jordan was instrumental in launching HKJ Real Estate Fund, LP and works hand-in-hand with the CEO sourcing and managing the assets in the fund. Prior to JREA, Jordan was a manager at RSM, one of the leading accounting firms in the US.

Lawrence Doyle

Lawrence Doyle

Advisor

Lawrence received his Bachelor's in finance from Pace University in 1980 and his Master's in International Business & Foreign Trade Policy from SUNY Empire State College in 1994. He began his career at the American Stock Exchange before working as a Branch & Regional Manager. He went on to co-found a multi-billion-dollar asset-management company which he merged into Horizon Kinetics Asset Management, where he serves as director today. Lawrence has been involved with Jacobs Real Estate Advisors for over 15 years and has been active in Bermuda real estate for the last decade.
